Program goal:
To give young Arizona musicians an opportunity to attend
jazz education programs conducted by the nationally and
regionally renowned artists and teachers of the NAU Jazz
Institute and Curry Summer Music Camp in Flagstaff.
2008 Auditions will be held Sunday
April 6 at Sedona Red Rock High School. Important
Note: Applicants for this SJOR scholarship must also
apply directly to the NAU Jazz Institute and fulfill
their audition requirements (forms and audition tape). |

The Jazz Institute takes place
from June 29-July 12. |

| SJOR is thrilled to
join NAU in their first year of offering the
NAU Jazz Institute at Curry Summer Music
Camp. The Curry Summer Music Camp is an
institution that has served junior high and
high school music students for nearly 50
years with high quality, enthusiastic music
instruction from national clinicians. |

|
Although a jazz component has been a
long-time part of the Curry Summer Music Camp, the need
for a more specialized program has inspired the creation
of the Jazz Institute. Here, jazz students will
experience jazz-specific curriculum as well as Big Band
and Combo ensemble playing.
